I’m so excited to have a work selected for the Bath Open. Having only started painting seriously again since 2020 it feels like a really honour and also a validation of my work. I was particularly thrilled that it was one of my digital paintings that was selected. Art Opens don’t usually lay mention to digital artwork as a valid medium but the Bath Open did, so of course it felt like that was what I had to submit.
Murmerings is a drawing/ painting that was created after seeing a murmaration along the Clevedon castline. I knew they weren’t starlings as I could see flashes of white on the under wing. I was later told by a natural history expert that they were probably sea faring birds that were migrating. I loved the rhythm and dance and I hope that I convey that in the work. This is a 40 x 40cm limited edition print. Currently only available at the Victora Gallery in Bath until the show ends.
